The Rose NFT — Story So Far

The Rose NFT is a collection of 338 nature themed digitalised paintings created by Finnish born, London based, artist Sirpa Moghissi. She has been an artist for 35 years, continuously developing her style which combines both digital and physical techniques. Visually her art is iconographic, but unique in that it places nature as the centre of attention, instead of religious entities. Contextually her work is more ambiguous, often an artwork offers a doorway into the psychology of the artist, which for individuals who do not create art will usually remain locked to the outside world, access granted only to themselves, their therapist, or their close family and friends. Having said this, interpreting an artist’s work from a contextual point of view is not easy without some relevant knowledge about the artist. Perhaps Sirpa’s work tells the story of someone who misses nature, and yearns to be engulfed by it once again. Her art reflects her journey as a person, from growing up in tranquil Finland surrounded by forests, lakes, insects, deers, lizards, and mushrooms to living in urban London for the past 30 years surrounded by cars, noise, asphalt, and people. Working in her studio in London maybe she is able to connect with nature once again through her artwork, and also connect with her mother who was also a Finnish born artist.

Note that an artwork can still have value without the relevant contextual information because it may resonate with you in a way that cannot be entirely identified. I would urge you to try and identify what it is that connects you to a certain piece of art, it is an activity which will help you better understand your own mind, but also the mind of the artist.
